CIT (Counselor in Training)
Join us for a leadership development program designed for older teens, entering 8th grade through 10th Grade, who want to learn to become counselors. Through workshops and hands-on experience, you’ll learn about group leadership, program planning, communication, instructional activities, working with kids, health and safety, creating a positive environment, and facilitating adventure teambuilding. CITs gain in-depth skills in a special interest area such as water sports, games, and regular camp acitivies.
Being a CIT is a unique experience—you learn and grow as a leader while having fun.
You’ll learn to be a positive role model for younger campers, and explore being a counselor.
CITs assume all camp leadership roles by designing and leading some activities and special events. Your schedule includes time to work directly with younger campers in activities under a bilingual staff supervision, as well as time to relax with other CITs.
Each CIT will be assigned to a counselor and a group of children. We accept a limited number of CITs in order to provide a strong program. We use an application process, ensuring the CIT program is a good fit for both you and us.
Acceptance into the program is based on an application and interview. A commitment of 2 weeks is required for CITs.
CITs are provided with a staff shirt, appropriate training and upon completion, a certificate of participation, that entitles them for community service hours (Please check with your school).
CITs who successfully complete the program have the opportunity to apply for a paid junior counselor or full staff position for the summer of 2012.
Please see prices and registration on the Camp Dates and Prices page.
